Today is Day 5 of the Thug Kitchen 21 Day challenge! I am going to review the Thug Kitchen Grapefruit Gin Punch, found here.  I was curious to try this recipe as I get very bored of summer drinks.  I wanted to try something new and refreshing.  I’ve also grown my taste buds to finally like gin! I’m obsessed (but in a good way, promise).

Thug Kitchen Grapefruit Gin PunchThe Review

There are five ingredients in this drink.  Two of these ingredients are alcoholic… so the price point is a bit high for this.  However, I don’t feel like you need quality gin or sparkling wine to make this.  It has some great flavor to it already with the grapefruit and tonic water.  I found it took literally no time to make, and if you have the time, juice your own grapefruit!

Thug Kitchen Grapefruit Gin PunchThe appearance speaks for itself.  I love the rose golden colour and the fizziness with the tonic and sparkling wine.  It was thirst quenching and not overly sweet, which you could also adjust as need be.  The gin and tonic added enough sweetness that added sugar was not needed.  It wasn’t satiating, unless you drink one too many hehe.

Thug Kitchen Grapefruit Gin Punch

Thug Kitchen Grapefruit Gin PunchI rated it a bit lower in longevity as the sparkles would fade over time.  Also, fresh grapefruit juice is best to have right away.  But who wants to leave a drink waiting anyways? If you want to make just one drink at a time, I suggest buying small cans of tonic.  You can also get small individual bottles of sparkling wine at the liquor store (or omit that altogether)

Final Verdict

Thug Kitchen Grapefruit Gin PunchOverall I rated this recipe 79% which seems a bit low.  I rated it as such because of cost, longevity and satiety.  However I would definitely make this again.

On to the next challenge…
