Carob Sunflower Protein Balls

What do you like to eat after a good workout? I have been thinking of new ways to add protein into my day, especially when I am biking home from work. My commute to work is roughly 20 km. With all that exercise a day, I feel exhausted when I come home. That’s why I created Carob Sunflower Protein Balls!

I was very excited when Yupik approached me to create a post around some of their new products, one being plant-based protein powder. I hate most protein powders. Many are chalky, overly flavored, and full of strange ingredients.

The importance of protein post work-out

It is important to stock up on healthy proteins after a workout, especially one heavier in cardio. As your muscles deplete, a well balanced, healthy snack can help repair and rebuilt – which will also aid in a shorter recovery time. I often stock my freezer with some healthy bites so I have something easy to grab and go when coming home or running out the door.

Carob Sunflower Protein Balls

Yupik Sunflower Seed Protein Powder and Raw Carob Powder

Yupik has created their own sunflower seed protein powder, which is made solely of sunflower seeds! A 30 gram serving is 16 grams of protein, which is amazing for those who don’t want to have an animal sourced protein. I was so excited to try it and put it to the test!

Another product I have been excited to try is their organic australian raw carob powder.  Carob is a great substitute for cacao powder, but is naturally sweet without any added sugar, and no caffeine. Fun fact: It also is great for dogs (if you want to create a sweet treat for them).

With these ingredients, it was simple enough to create a new protein bite for post workout: Carob Sunflower Protein Balls. See below for the recipe, they are so flavourful.

I have been so impressed with all of Yupik’s products so far. There is also nothing better than a good Canadian company! Thank you to Yupik for sending me the free product to test and this opportunity!
