Today I will be reviewing the Thug Kitchen Cauliflower Bites with Sriracha and Peanut Dipping Sauce, found in the Thug Kitchen Original Cookbook, found on page 128. I feel like everyone who eats plant based/ vegan has one thing they miss about eating meat. In other words, one thing that they would smell at a restaurant and drool over silently a little. I have yet to meet someone who doesn’t have that. Usually it’s bacon, or sometimes poutine with beef gravy. For me, it’s Buffalo style chicken wings. There is something so unique about the smell, that just gets me missing it so much. So needless to say, I was super excited to try the Thug Kitchen Cauliflower Bites recipe and see if it stood up to the test. I have never thought to pair it with peanut sauce either.
At A First Glance
There are 13 ingredients in this recipe, which is a bit higher than other recipes in the book. However, I believe they are all essential and easy to find at any grocery store. Depending on time of year, cauliflower can be a bit costly. So is peanut butter. The directions were accurate and easy to follow and it didn’t take too long to make.
Taste Test
The taste and texture were great, especially after battering them a bit before baking. I thought having peanut dip was a bit strange with the flavor. Next time, I think I would make a vegan ranch dip. I still really liked the overall taste. Be careful however, they are quite spicy! They don’t keep crunchy. The tend to get a bit soft once placed in the fridge. They still make great leftovers, possibly on rice or pasta?
Final Verdict
I think the Thug Kitchen Cauliflower Bites are a great alternative for those that love chicken wings but are vegan and want a different taste. I haven’t tried many other vegan chicken wings, so would love to do a foodie trio challenge on these in the future! I think they would be great for a party as well. I gave these overall an 84% rating. It’s been hard to give a low rating so far on these recipes!
