Hello Foodies! I am getting caught up now on all the reviews from the 14 Day Deliciously Ella challenge – now that it is done. I apologize for the delay. This review, of the Nutty Pea and Quinoa Bowl is found on the Deliciously Ella Blog and app.

It is gluten free and vegan, and a great meal to have year round, as it is made mostly with kale and frozen peas. See below for a detailed review of the recipe 🙂

Deliciously Ella Nutty Pea and Quinoa Bowl

  1. Ingredients = 5 stars

There are eleven ingredients used in this recipe and all easily found at many grocery stores.   As stated earlier, they are also available year round.

  1. Preparation = 4 stars

Really easy to prepare, I found that the ingredients took little prep time and the steps were laid out properly. You do need a food processor, but it does not have to be a super high functioning one to make the pesto.

  1. Cost = 3.5 starsDeliciously Ella Nutty Pea and Quinoa Bowl

This recipe was a bit lower on cost than some of her other recipes, however quinoa and almonds are on the pricier side.

  1. Time – 4 stars

This recipe is super speedy – and sticks to her 15 minute estimate, however I have a larger food processor and sometimes takes a while to clean. So I’m not sure it’s 15 minutes ‘from start to finish’. But close!

  1. Appearance – 3 stars

I found this recipe to be okay in appearance. I wouldn’t say there is anything that makes it unappetizing but nothing that really stands out either. The colours contrast well and it tends to keep its appearance over time.

  1. Taste and Texture – 4 stars

There are some interesting contrasting elements to this bowl, with the crunch of the almonds, to the tenderness of zucchini and the chewiness of quinoa. The pea pesto was mild, it could have used a little more spice – maybe even some Dijon or horse radish to take the flavors over the edge.

  1. Satiety Level – 5 stars

I found this bowl perfectly filling. It wasn’t over the top, but it was definitely high in protein, fiber and carbohydrates to keep me satiated throughout the day.

  1. Longevity – 3.5 stars

I would say this bowl is pretty good for next day leftovers, however the zucchini does get quite soft after the third day, so it would be something you would have to eat fairly soon after.
