We are now into Day 5 of the One Part Plant Challenge and today I am going to be reviewing the One Part Plant Pineapple Mint Green Smoothie which is found on page 52 of the One Part Plant Cookbook. I will also be doing another ‘shout-out’ at the end of the review to another lovely OPP Cookbook Launch Crew Member. Phew!
Review of the One Part Plant Pineapple Mint Green Smoothie
At First Glance
The ingredients for the One Part Plant Pineapple Mint Green Smoothie were simple and minimal. I decided to buy a pineapple fresh. However, I think I used it too early. Because the rest of the ingredients aren’t sweet, the smoothie relies on the pineapple for sweetness. I found the preparation to be dead simple as well. I had some frozen cubes of mint on hand, so I used those as opposed to fresh mint.
The Taste Test
As mentioned above, it is crucial to have ripe pineapple – in fact I think overripe is even better. I found this smoothie overly sour because of it. The texture was great however it really is more of a ‘slushie’ than a smoothie. As you can tell, the minute I poured the glass, the smoothie started to separate. I kept thinking that this would be a great smoothie on a hot day (it was snowing outside when I made it!).
The Final Verdict
I gave the One Part Plant Pineapple Mint Green Smoothie 78% which was a great score. I would recommend making it again, with the adjustments I stated above. Something small, but I wouldn’t call it a smoothie as the name threw me off. It’s a slushie!
One Part Plant Shoutout – welcome Megan Louise!
As mentioned above, I think it is time we do another shoutout! I am excited to introduce Megan. She lives in Indianapolis and calls herself a foodie. Shes a foodie in that she supports local businesses by posting about them on Instagram. That business may be a restaurant, or it may just be a local ingredient that she’s added in her recipe at home.
Her interest in reviewing food started it about a year ago as a complete hobby. Now she’s made so many connections and can’t imagine life without being an Indianapolis foodie. Aside from her foodie life she’s also a first grade teacher. She’s been teaching for almost two years now and enjoys it. However, her ultimate goal is to leave teaching and work in a business that supports food businesses. Welcome to Whole Foodie Challenge – Megan!
